Very nice relaxing place with a nice open fire on a cold winter night! Had a look at the menu looked very nice and reasonable prices! Called in here after a meal in the snooty fox.
Beautiful restaurant with lots of character and great food served.
We came here for the steak night on Thursdays and the food was good but customer service and atmosphere really let down the place.We were staying nearby at The Royal Oak, and came here to eat on our second night. The first impression was this place was quaint but then you wall further into the restaurant and it turns into a very expensive looking and almost snooty place, with a lot of the diners turning their nose up at things and making snobby comments over miniscule things. The drinks are very expensive and gratuity is added to the bill automatically which I felt they had to do as some of their waiting staff were terrible. We asked for some condiments and it took about 10 minutes for them to be brought over and this was after reminding them again that we asked for them. We were also waiting with our finished plates for ages until they finally noticed us by my partner getting their attention. The tables were also way too small, with two plates each making it almost impossible to get any other plates in, which if you add side salads and other veg and drinks and wine will make it uncomfortably crammed.The whole restaurant was deadly quiet too, which is not the country restaurant it's imagined to be from their website bio.All in all, foods good but the customer service and atmosphere really did cloud any good things I could say about this place.
Usaally fine , go at am and could do with a little more options are brunch / type breakfasts available .
Good service, beautiful place. My food was nice but not worth the money. I had Gnocchi for my main dish but it definitely wasn't Gnocchi it was more like a tasty mash potato in a series of circular shapes on my plate. Portions very small so make sure you order sides if you're hungry.
